Context

The 60th Festival de la Leyenda Vallenata takes place in Valledupar, Colombia, from 28 April to 1 May 2027. Our course project was to analyze, design and prototype a public voting platform for it. The client had not defined most voting rules yet, so nothing could be fixed in the code.

It's an academic prototype, not an official Festival site, and every poll shown is sample data.

The team and my role

The team wrote the analysis and design document together. I led UX/UI and built the interactive prototype that goes with it, covering the voter journey (mobile first) and an administration area for editions, polls, options and results.

Result

Every poll carries its own rule (votes per voter, period, results visibility and registration), so the organizers can decide later without a rebuild. Two sample polls use different rules on purpose, so the difference shows in the interface.

The security rules from the analysis are in place, with salted password hashes and a two-minute lock after five failed sign-ins. An axe-core audit (WCAG 2.1 AA) found no violations on mobile or desktop, and the HTML validates with no ESLint errors.

What I learned

When a client hasn't decided the rules yet, the rules can become settings. That kept the prototype useful whatever the Festival decides, and gave the team something concrete to show while the questions for the client stayed open.
